Hesai Technology (Nasdaq: HSAI), the global leader in lidar technology, officially launched its mini 3D lidar JT series for the robotics market this week. Hesai and MOVA also jointly showcased the new MOVA 1000 Robotic Lawn Mower, featuring a JT16 lidar that provides high-precision 3D environmental perception capabilities.
Deliveries have already begun for the JT series, with Hesai delivering over 20,000 lidar units for robotic applications in December. Hesai has a broad presence in the robotics market, with customers in over 40 countries worldwide, spanning across areas such as lawn mowers, delivery robots, cleaning robots, AGVs, and AMRs.
A member of the Dreame ecosystem, Kutting Technology offers innovative and efficient products for households globally with the aim of enhancing and improving people’s lifestyles. Following the official release of the Robotic Lawn Mowers by MOVA and Kutting Technology at the 2024 IFA in Germany, the products quickly gained enthusiastic customers.
As mini 3D lidars, the Hesai JT series feature the world’s widest hyper-hemispherical field of view and compact sizes, allowing for discreet, easy installation on various robots and industrial equipment. Thanks to the unique characteristics of 3D lidar, the MOVA Robotic Lawn Mowers are not restricted by extreme lighting conditions such as nighttime or strong sunlight during outdoor operations. Meanwhile, the Hesai JT16 significantly enhances the autonomous lawn mower’s 3D environmental perception, enabling MOVA to perform tasks such as positioning and obstacle avoidance.
Fei Li, Head of Global Robotics Division, MOVA
“The latest MOVA robotic lawn mower is equipped with Hesai’s mini 3D lidar JT16. Its compact size and light weight perfectly integrate with the MOVA 600 and MOVA 1000 models, providing our lawn mowers with exceptional perception accuracy and work efficiency, which are key qualities valued by consumers worldwide. In the future, MOVA will continue to collaborate with Hesai to create more high-tech home robotics products.”
David Li, Co-Founder and CEO, Hesai Technology
“MOVA’s exceptional brand strength and product competitiveness have made a significant impact in the global market. This collaboration marks the first application of Hesai’s new 3D lidar technology in smart lawn mowers, signifying an important step for Hesai’s robotics products in the consumer market. Hesai will continue to advance its R&D in the robotics field, with the aim of consistently launching innovative and competitive products to boost the growth of the robotics industry.”
Traditional 2D single-channel lidars no longer meet the needs of next-generation autonomous lawn mowers for high definition, wide-range sensing and efficient obstacle avoidance. With the integration of 3D lidar, MOVA Robotic Lawn Mowers can achieve autonomous navigation and obstacle avoidance, accurately identifying common yard obstacles and significantly reducing potential risks. Coupled with advanced outdoor environment algorithms, MOVA lawn mowers can adapt to the lawn’s boundaries more quickly and easily without complicated wiring or the need for RTK base stations and signal poles. This makes it adaptable to various yards, offering higher mowing efficiency and providing users with a more convenient lawn care experience.
Over the next few years, the robotic lawn mower industry will usher in unprecedented growth opportunities. According to Statista, from 2022 to 2032, the European robotic lawn mower market will expand rapidly at a compound annual growth rate of 10.3%. Hesai will continue to leverage its mini 3D lidar products in its collaboration with MOVA to create smarter, more efficient, and more eco-friendly lawn management solutions, driving the adoption of robotic lawn mowers as an essential product for more households.
In the future, Hesai will continue to work with MOVA to drive the advancement and widespread adoption of intelligent robotics technology, bringing more innovative and intelligent consumer-grade robotic products to users worldwide.
